One of the world's most comprehensive museums devoted to Asian and Asian American art, founded in 1966 around Avery Brundage's collection and formally named the Chong-Moon Lee Center for Asian Art and Culture. Its holdings exceed 18,000 works spanning 6,000 years, from Chinese bronzes and jades to South Asian sculpture and contemporary art. Since 2003 it has occupied the former main public library at 200 Larkin Street in Civic Center, expanded in 2020 with a pavilion for contemporary exhibitions and installations.
