Kim Minwook's On Carving, Bending, and Binding Wood, the self-taught Korean woodturner's first solo museum exhibition, presents sculptures made from wood shaped by weather, time and nature. Responding to the grain, tension and movement already present, Kim lets cracks, knots and scars guide each form, carrying the life of the tree into the work, which curator Yoon-Jee Choi calls a collaborator.
