Robert Therrien: This is a Story surveys more than five decades of the artist’s work, highlighting his explorations of scale, material, memory, and perception. Large domestic forms and intimate drawings trace a personal vocabulary of symbols that evolved throughout his career.

The exhibition presents decommissioned Confederate monuments, some damaged, alongside contemporary artworks by Kara Walker and Stan Douglas. Placing the statues in a museum setting highlights their historical function and shifting status as contested symbols. Feauturing works by Bethany Collins, Karon Davis, Abigail DeVille, Stan Douglas, Kevin Jerome Everson, Kahlil Robert Irving, Monument Lab, Walter Price, Cauleen Smith, Davóne Tines and Julie Dash, and Kara Walker. Additional artworks by Leonardo Drew, Torkwase Dyson, Nona Faustine, Jon Henry, Hugh Mangum, Martin Puryear, Andres Serrano, and Hank Willis Thomas.

Libations is Hayv Kahraman’s third solo exhibition with Vielmetter Los Angeles. The exhibition presents a new body of paintings shaped by personal experience of loss, displacement, and ecological disaster. Drawing on ritual, mysticism, and ancestral knowledge, the works depict female figures engaged in symbolic acts within liminal spaces. Through material experimentation and recurring motifs, Kahraman considers imagination and the metaphysical as responses to rupture and transformation.

An exhibition of new oil paintings by Cole Case connects autobiographical experience with art historical references to examine state power and political unrest in Los Angeles. Depicting events such as ICE detentions, protests, and a visit to Manzanar, the works draw on compositions by artists including Degas and Poussin to situate contemporary scenes of enforcement and resistance within longer histories of representation.

Destiny Is a Rose presents more than 80 works from the collection of Eileen Harris Norton, marking fifty years since her first acquisition in 1976. Featuring paintings, sculptures, works on paper, and performance materials by artists including Kerry James Marshall, David Hammons, Lorraine O’Grady, and Amy Sherald, the exhibition traces the development of her collection and its sustained support of women artists and artists of color.

Portmanteau is Mirena Kim’s first solo exhibition at Patricia Sweetow Gallery, presenting intimate oil paintings and paper sculpture made from reclaimed paper pulp. Kim works with reduced palettes and close attention to architectural space. Limiting color to two or three tones, often tone on tone, she articulates space across two and three dimensions.

Factory Doomscroll is a two-person exhibition of new work by Christine Tien Wang and Rachel Youn. The exhibition examines cycles of consumption, obsolescence, and repetition embedded in contemporary digital and wellness cultures. Wang’s paintings translate internet memes into labor-intensive images, slowing the rapid decay of online content, while Youn’s motorized sculptures animate discarded self-care technologies beyond their intended use. Together, the works address how comfort, gratification, and attention are produced, sustained, and exhausted across physical and digital systems.

Charlie James Gallery presents Patrick Martinez: Left in Ruins, featuring new paintings, drawings, sculptures, and neon works created over the past two years. Martinez uses materials associated with Los Angeles, including stucco, cement, tile, cinderblock, and neon, to examine migration, labor, architecture, and civic space. The exhibition also includes a family-curated presentation of related artworks.

Vielmetter Los Angeles presents Karl Haendel’s fifth solo exhibition with the gallery. The show features new drawings hung in unexpected ways, including images of animals, protests, scribbles, and text-based works. Haendel continues developing his distinctive drawing practice while reflecting on family, time, and imagination, inviting viewers into a playful yet questioning look at art and everyday life.

Brian Sharp: Carry onnnn features oil on linen paintings in various sizes by the Los Angeles–based artist. Presenting abstract and semi-abstract motifs, the exhibition marks his third show at the gallery and is organized in conjunction with Annabel Osberg: Unexplained Phenomenon. The title suggests both continuity and rupture, reflecting shifts in the artist’s ongoing practice and broader social references.

Na Boca do Sol II features twelve new paintings by Paulo Nimer Pjota, installed over red mural drawings executed directly on the gallery walls. Referencing a 1972 recording by Arthur Verocai, the exhibition considers how images and histories reappear across contexts. Pjota combines mythological, art historical, and personal symbols, using recurring formats and meditative repetition to construct layered compositions.

A unique collaboration between MOCA and the Los Angeles Philharmonic, this presentation brings together the work of internationally acclaimed visual artist Haegue Yang (b. 1971, Seoul) and her interest in and engagement with the late composer Isang Yun (1917-1995). The institutional collaboration unfolds over two distinct presentations: an exhibition featuring a sprawling installation Star-Crossed Rendezvous after Yun, 2024, at MOCA Grand Avenue, for its U.S. debut; and a concert at the Walt Disney Concert Hall for a special one evening performance of Yun’s Double Concerto, 1977, by the LA Philharmonic on March 10, 2026. This project bridges two distinguished cultural organizations and their unique architectural sites, connecting them through time and space, with this immersive sonic and visual experience.
