Spencer Finch presents works that translate observed moments of light and atmosphere into measured, perceptual studies. Drawing on watercolor, photography, video, glass, electronics, and large-scale light installations, Finch records specific conditions of luminosity and reconstructs them in spatial form. His practice centers on memory, perception, and the experience of seeing.

Michael Kohn Gallery
Object Poetry presents sculptures by Ian Burns, Bruce Conner, Tony Oursler, Chiffon Thomas, and Cajsa von Zeipel that use sound, light, video, movement, and found objects to inhabit the space where language lapses. Spread across three participatory environments at Michael Kohn Gallery, the works invite viewers to engage physically and emotionally—less as observers than as participants. These forms are not surrogates for ideas. They are their terrestrial manifestations.

From 1968 to 2002, Gerald Jackson lived and worked in an industrial loft on New York’s Bowery, a neighborhood that served as both home and creative incubator for generations of artists. After a brief stint in the U.S. Army, Jackson moved from his native Chicago to the Lower East Side, where he became part of a vibrant community of Black artists and musicians. While the Bowery’s role in New York’s cultural history has been extensively documented, much of Jackson’s three decades there remains overlooked. His years on the Bowery offer a rich, still-emerging story of artistic experimentation, community, and resilience at the heart of a rapidly changing city.
