Alex Hubbard’s multidisciplinary practice explores the intersections of painting, sculpture, animation, and performance. Combining hand-made imagery, found materials, and custom-built projection surfaces, he creates works that blur the boundaries between static and moving images. Rejecting the polished aesthetics of AI-generated media, Hubbard embraces experimentation, chance, and material improvisation to investigate perception, abstraction, and the physical limits of artistic mediums.

Alex Hubbard (b. 1975, Toledo, Oregon) is a Los Angeles-based artist whose practice spans painting, sculpture, video, and installation. Known for pushing the boundaries between static and moving images, he combines abstraction, performance, and experimental material processes to create dynamic, multidisciplinary works. Hubbard has presented solo exhibitions at the Hammer Museum, The Kitchen, KunstHalle Berlin, and the Rose Art Museum, and his work is held in the collections of the Museum of Modern Art, the Whitney Museum of American Art, LACMA, the Guggenheim Museum, and numerous international institutions.
