SF Camerawork is a nonprofit gallery founded in 1974, dedicated to new ideas and directions in photography and to supporting emerging and experimental image-makers through exhibitions, publications, and public programs. Early on it gave Bay Area platforms to artists like Robert Mapplethorpe, Sally Mann, and Joel-Peter Witkin. Long based in SoMa/Mid-Market, it left its Market Street home in 2021 and relocated to Fort Mason Center for Arts & Culture (2 Marina Blvd, Building A), where it remains active as of 2026.
