Sheila Hicks's first solo exhibition at SFMOMA features a site-specific installation in the museum's New Work gallery, drawing on nearly seven decades of redefining fiber as sculptural form. Beacon-like comets of intersecting lines, small daily experiments, and a towering central phare (lighthouse) of suspended twisting cords anchor the show, which continues with an expansive outdoor commission in the Floor 5 sculpture garden.
