Leila Weefur’s "The Chapel of Becoming" builds a sacred space on the premise that the trans* body is itself a site of devotion. It pairs a new video, "On Devotion", featuring trans* community members including historian Susan Stryker, with ceramic tiles hand-imprinted with floor plans of centuries-old religious buildings. Drawing on Jack Halberstam’s trans* anarchitecture, the work unbuilds forms of exclusion.
