"Foot Notes: Shoes, Symbolism, and Society" draws on The Wolfsonian’s collection to read the first half of the 20th century through footwear. Rare shoes by Salvatore Ferragamo and Beth Levine sit among design drawings, posters, department-store shoe displays, an X-ray shoe sizer and toy rocket shoes. The exhibition explores how materials, technology and design met merchandising, propaganda and identity.
