Meriem Bennani marks the California debut of the artist’s acclaimed video trilogy Life on the CAPS (2018–22). Blending documentary, animation, social media, and reality TV, Bennani creates speculative worlds that examine migration, borders, and postcolonial power. Set on a fictional island where migrants are detained after teleporting across borders, the immersive installation explores displacement with humor, empathy, and sharp political insight.
