Aiy-ye-kwee' presents a solo exhibition of new work by Saif Azzuz (Libyan/Yurok) featuring painting, sculpture, installation, and assemblage grounded in making as a way of understanding cultural and ecological inheritance. The exhibition includes large-scale fire paintings depicting the forests and rivers of Weitchpec, California based on photographs by the artist's mother, a hand-carved plywood plinth supporting plasma-cut steel flowers, and a site-specific mural with Arabic text. Intergenerational works by family members and community members reinforce the interconnected nature of artistic practice. Titles move between English, Arabic, and Yurok, tracing language as both inheritance and living practice, while the exhibition explores questions of cultural transmission and ecological stewardship.
