Installation view, Marielle Plaisir: After Icarus, Fredric Snitzer Gallery, Miami, 2026
Marielle Plaisir’s *After Icarus* is a solo show of paintings and drawings that takes Bruegel’s nearly invisible falling Icarus as a frame for the present. Fragmented bodies run, float or seem to take flight across silent landscapes, never clearly falling or escaping. Drawing on her Guadeloupean and French heritage, Plaisir explores who disappears from view and the tangled relationship between beauty and power.
