Paul Mpagi Sepuya (b. 1982) is a Los Angeles–based photographer known for intimate, studio-based portraits that foreground fragmentation, reflection, and the dynamics between photographer, subject, and viewer. Working with mirrors, draped fabric, and collaborative poses, Sepuya destabilizes traditional portraiture while exploring desire, Black queer representation, and the politics of visibility. His work has been exhibited internationally, including at the Whitney Biennial and the Museum of Modern Art.
