Matthew Phillips is a Brooklyn-based painter whose abstractions build on fundamental elements of painting: simple shapes, modulated values and color relationships, layered in transparent pigment and silica on canvas. He has had solo exhibitions at The Landing Gallery, Los Angeles; Reynolds Gallery, Richmond; and Steven Harvey, New York, and has been an artist-in-residence at Yaddo and the MacDowell Colony.
