Manoucher Yektai (1921–2019) was an Iranian-born painter and a founding member of the New York School, known for richly impastoed canvases that move between still life, landscape, portrait and color field. Born in Tehran, he drew on Persian rugs, Iranian flora, calligraphy and poetry. His work is in the collections of MoMA, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, SFMOMA, the Whitney and the Hirshhorn.
