Kimiyo Mishima (1932–2024) was a Japanese artist celebrated for her trompe-l'oeil ceramic sculptures that meticulously replicated printed ephemera—newspapers, magazines, cardboard boxes, and crumpled paper—using silkscreened porcelain and stoneware. Born in Osaka, she began as a painter before turning to clay in the 1970s, transforming throwaway media into permanent objects. Her work critiques information overload and consumer waste, and is held in major museums worldwide.
