Huguette Caland was a Lebanese painter and sculptor (1931–2019) who lived in Beirut, Paris, and New York before settling in Los Angeles from 1987 to 2013. Her work centers on the female body, eroticism, and desire, and is built from line: flowing outlines of her own body and her lovers' in early works, dense repeated marks in later ones. Her Venice home and studio drew artists such as Ed Moses and Ken Price.
