Damián Ortega (b. 1967, Mexico City) is a Mexican artist known for sculptures and installations that take apart everyday objects to reveal their hidden social and political meanings, most famously Cosmic Thing (2002), a Volkswagen Beetle suspended in exploded view. His work combines wit and rigor with an interest in modernist geometry and the mathematics of natural forms.
