Anina Major (b. 1981, Nassau, Bahamas) is a New York-based artist working at the intersection of ceramics, sculpture and installation. She hand-weaves clay to resemble Bahamian palm-leaf plaiting, turning a soft, impermanent tradition into fired, lasting form. Her work honors the labor and lineage of Caribbean craft and questions the Bahamas’ image as a marketed paradise.
