Destiny Is a Rose presents more than 80 works from the collection of Eileen Harris Norton, marking fifty years since her first acquisition in 1976. Featuring paintings, sculptures, works on paper, and performance materials by artists including Kerry James Marshall, David Hammons, Lorraine O’Grady, and Amy Sherald, the exhibition traces the development of her collection and its sustained support of women artists and artists of color.

Así Sea/So Be It is an installation by Sanchez centered on more than 200 wax rubbings taken from her grandparents’ former home in East Los Angeles. Created collaboratively with family members, the works record architectural surfaces, interior details, and garden elements. The installation considers domestic space as an archive shaped by loss, memory, and embodied acts of preservation.

Founded five decades ago, Semiotext(e) introduced French theory to American readers and grew into one of the country's most influential independent presses, publishing theory, fiction, satire, sexuality, science fiction, and confessions across a deliberately curated list. On view at ICA LA, Desert Islands is a visual archipelago of writers' quotes from the catalogue, alongside Dream Machine (2026), a sculpture/collage by Hedi El Kholti honoring Brion Gysin and the 1978 Nova Convention celebrating William S. Burroughs.

ICA LA’s *Speaking in Tongues* brings together an intergenerational, international group of artists exploring art as a conduit to the spiritual. Centering Indigenous and diasporic artists from the Global South, the exhibition considers ritual, language, and ecstatic expression while presenting spirituality as a means of survival, kinship, remembrance, and communion across cultures, geographies, and time.

The Generative Universe spans more than three decades of Keith Tyson’s paintings, sculptures, and mixed-media works. Originally trained as an engineer, Tyson’s foundational conviction is that the universe operates as a single generative system—a constantly shifting network in which all forms arise, transform and dissolve. Through chemical processes, mathematical models, meditative painting, biological structures and handmade electronic devices, Tyson invites viewers to consider the mysterious universal processes through which reality, and our consciousness within it, come into being.

Exploring ritual, atmosphere, and the afterlife of images, the show unfolds as a collective invocation shaped by memory, ornament, folklore, and emotional residue — humid, nocturnal, and slightly uncanny, spanning painting, graphite drawings, and sculptural wall works.
