Founded in 1925, this museum on the historic Mills College campus (now Northeastern University Oakland, following the 2022 merger) holds one of the largest permanent collections of any West Coast liberal arts college: over 12,000 works spanning prints, drawings, photography, ceramics, textiles, and California painting. Housed in a Walter Ratcliff Jr.-designed Spanish Colonial Revival building at 5000 MacArthur Blvd, it emphasizes women artists and curators and celebrated its centennial in 2025. It remains open, with free admission.
