MAKI Gallery presents Welcome to The Country, Tomohito Ushiro’s third solo exhibition with the gallery. Featuring 37 new paintings, light boxes, and sculptures, the exhibition expands Ushiro’s exploration of memory, perception, and image transformation. By reducing representational forms into simplified linear structures, Ushiro navigates between figuration and abstraction, questioning how accumulated images shape identity. The exhibition also reflects on belief, fiction, and cultural constructs, inviting viewers to reconsider the nature of truth and perception.
