"tierra", the latest edition of Craft Contemporary’s Clay Biennial, widens its focus beyond clay to practices grounded in land and earth. Foregrounding Latinx, Indigenous and Black artists, it treats earth-based materials as carriers of relation and cultural memory, marked by touch and labor. Earth appears as ancestor, relative and teacher, and as terrain scarred by extraction, borders and displacement.
