Bel Ami pairs Richard Sides's enamel monochromes — each carrying a single family word, painted sometimes tone on tone so the name nearly withdraws into its ground — with Dan Mitchell's powder-coated signposts, whose arrows point inward rather than out, toward Revenge, Boredom, Nothing, Nowhere. Two very different systems of naming and direction sit side by side in a show about how little separates them in tone, and about what still counts as an act, a response, or a way out. Text by Gianmaria Andreetta. Opening reception Saturday, July 18, 6–9 pm.
