Over five decades, Rocío García has developed a visual language drawn from film noir, comics, Matisse, Kafka, and Havana nightlife, rendering figures at the margins of society in scenes both absurdist and homoerotic. The Object of Power is Power presents work that darkly mirrors systems of authority while creating space for humor and their imagined collapse. The exhibition is curated by Carmen Maria Machado, whose own work in body horror and queer-feminist narrative finds deep resonance here.
