The Gay Harlem Renaissance marks the centennial of The New Negro by celebrating Black LGBTQ+ life in the 1920s–30s. Highlighting Alain Locke and queer artists he supported, the exhibition explores mentorship networks, Harlem’s nightclubs, rent parties, and speakeasies. Through art, music, and archives, it captures the creativity and resilience of LGBTQ+ Harlemites who shaped a vibrant cultural capital amid racism and homophobia.
