This exhibition presents manuscripts from Getty’s collection related to the ancient Egyptian Book of the Dead. Inscribed with ritual texts intended to guide the deceased in the afterlife, the works reflect beliefs about the cosmos, the gods, and existence. The presentation examines how funerary manuscripts conveyed religious knowledge and conceptions of life, death, and renewal.
