In Teachers Bouquets, teaching functions as both subject and medium for Timmy Simonds’s practice. Pedagogy becomes material—a sound, a choreography, an architecture, a social relation. Bouquets of flowers become instructive symbols: cultivated, decaying, renewing. Broken Vine suspends dried vines along chains, evoking the invisible structures that organize bodies and behaviors long after the teacher has disappeared. The works stage the central contradiction of teaching: that care and coercion, nurture and discipline, are never fully separable.
