This two-part exhibition examines the origins of Tarot in Renaissance Italy and its continued influence on modern and contemporary artists. The first section focuses on fifteenth-century decks commissioned by the Dukes of Milan, considering their imagery and courtly context. The second section traces the impact of later Tarot decks on twentieth- and twenty-first-century artists who engaged Tarot imagery as a source for alternative visual and symbolic systems.
