Tanya Merrill: Land animal, house animal

Tanya Merrill (b. 1987, New York City) lives and works in New York. She received her BA from Sarah Lawrence College and her MFA from Columbia University. Her paintings invent narratives about humanity’s fraught relationship to nature and cultural portrayals of gender and sexuality, reworking art-historical motifs. She has had solo exhibitions at 303 Gallery, New York; The Pond Society, Shanghai; and Half Gallery, New York.
