Marianne Wex’s 1972 project documents how gender shapes body language and the ways people occupy space. In Hamburg, she secretly photographed everyday gestures, then gathered and rephotographed images from media and art sources, arranging them into categories like standing, sitting, and holding. This exhibition pairs Wex with artists including Nona Faustine and Wendy Red Star, expanding the conversation through Black, queer, and contemporary feminist views on reclaiming space and self-representation.
