Hark Back to Ukiyo-e: Tracing Superflat to Japonisme’s Genesis is a solo exhibition by Takashi Murakami presenting 24 new paintings. Drawing on ukiyo-e bijinga and their influence on Impressionism, the works examine composition, sensual detail, and pictorial devices that shaped modern painting, reinterpreted through Murakami’s Superflat technique and layered silkscreened surfaces.
