Spanish Style: Fashion Illuminated, 1550-1700 examines how Spain’s imperial networks shaped elite dress in the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries and contributed to a distinctive visual identity. Drawing from the museum’s collections, it considers garments, portraits, manuscripts, and decorative objects to show how clothing, materials, and display were used to construct status and social mobility within the Spanish Empire.
