Sable Elyse Smith’s "SKY FENCE GROUND" brings together new woven works on paper, a recent video and a monumental kinetic sculpture. Smith slices and interweaves her Coloring Books, drawn from a children’s activity book about the judicial process, into imperfect grids, while "A Clockwork" (2021) turns prison tables and stools into a slowly rotating Ferris wheel. The show examines how visual systems structure power and the carceral state.
