Shota Nakamura’s Sighs explores ambiguity through fourteen new oil paintings on linen, shifting between landscape, portrait, and still life. Figures inhabit unsettling environments, grappling with absence and presence, while windows and interiors serve as metaphoric portals. His distortions challenge perceptions of human-nature relationships and domestic spaces. Capturing tension between meaning and emptiness, Sighs marks Nakamura’s third solo exhibition at C L E A R I N G and his New York debut.
