Gretchen Scherer’s "Reading the Rooms" presents new paintings of historic interiors, from Attingham Park’s picture gallery to Gothic Hall in The Hague and Rosa Bonheur’s studio. Built from archival research, the bright, densely detailed rooms fill with paintings, sculptures and furniture from each real collection. Moving between stillness and playful life, they probe the tension between real places and imagined ones.
