Pollinators presents new large-scale paintings and cast-bronze sculptures by Esteban Cabeza de Baca. Drawing from landscape painting traditions, the artist works from en plein air observation before altering surfaces through masking, overpainting, excavation, and the incorporation of site-specific materials. Recurrent imagery of the pollinator, derived from Mesoamerican sources, appears across the works as a figure linking land, history, and speculative futures, while the sculptures extend these concerns into three-dimensional form through plant-based casting processes.
