Pierre Soulages’s "Paintings on Paper" gathers more than twenty works on paper, most previously unexhibited, organized with Colette Soulages. Walnut stain, gouache, and ink on paper—his first support since the mid-1940s—often anticipate later canvas developments. Rapid absorption locks decisions in place, framing paper as the purest register of his “inner imperative.”
