Peanut Butter and Jelly is an exhibition of new paintings by Katherine Bernhardt drawn from her domestic life in St. Louis, where she has spent the past five years restoring a bold modernist home on Lindell Boulevard. The house—subject and studio at once—generates Bernhardt's signature flattened compositions and saturated hues: kitchenware, appliances, packaged goods, and family portraits embedded in richly patterned interiors where the ordinary becomes a site of optical intensity. Taking its title from familiar comfort food, the exhibition continues Bernhardt’s interest in the visual and emotional resonance of everyday experience.
