Osamu Kobayashi’s *Cave Painting* brings together new abstract paintings built around a recurring arch that might be a cathedral window, the mouth of a sea cave or an opening. Sweeping strokes, made with custom tools of bolted-together brushes, shift between translucent and solid. Named for both the earliest human art and Plato’s allegory of the cave, the works explore the space between appearance and reality.
