Once used in French kitchens to present ice creams disguised as grapes, mushrooms, and lemon wedges, Julien Monnerie's pewter molds have been sanded, faceted, and polished to mirror-bright surfaces—emptied of function, radiant with history. In Nouvelles Sculptures, they are mounted on the wall as another species of culinary trompe l'œil: allegorical, reflective, and faintly intoxicating.
