James Siena New Drawings* *(on Old Paper)

This exhibition presents new drawings by James Siena made over the past six months on rare vintage papers, some more than sixty years old. Using self-imposed “visual algorithms,” Siena builds intricate networks from a single undulating line, retracing and extending it with varied thickness and color. Working with tools such as light tables and templates, he produces dense structures that evoke neural pathways, topographic maps, and delicate lace-like patterns.
