Michael McGregor: LUNCH presents paintings and works on paper made on menus collected during the artist's travels, their creases and stains carrying the physical traces of experience. Expanding his still life practice into contemporary scenes of eating alone or with fellow artists across multiple cities, McGregor renders cutlery, wine bottles, restaurant interiors, and food with graphic immediacy and a loose, energetic touch. Drawing on Tom Wesselmann, Warhol, Oldenburg, and the mark-making of Ryman and Twombly, the works celebrate the collectivist nature of shared meals — the conversation, the sobremesa, the subtle hedonism of lingering at the table.
