"Life, Liberty, and Los Angeles" reads the Declaration of Independence’s most famous words through the city’s history of competing claims to life, liberty and happiness. Historical and contemporary objects, media and art, from a 1967 Autopia car designed by Bob Gurr and a can of “Original Undiluted Los Angeles Smog” to a Hmong story cloth and new community commissions, tell the stories of diverse Angelenos.
