Katie Shapiro’s The Other Side of the Moon, her most autobiographical body of work, treats photography as sculpture. Images of the moon, landscapes and fragments of her adolescent sons are printed on stacked glass, set in mirrored frames and nestled in shells, obsidian and jade. Informed by Jungian ideas, the moon becomes a figure of cyclical time, linking motherhood, healing and transformation.
