Mizuma Art Gallery presents Facing Histories, a solo exhibition by Bologna-based artist KARASUMARU Yumi exploring the intersection of personal memory and collective history. Through paintings and performances drawing on Edo-period art, war memories, and archival photographs, Karasumaru creates a space where multiple timelines converge, revealing fragmented and layered histories often obscured by time. Rather than presenting history as a linear narrative, the works recover the presence of unnamed figures and overlooked perspectives, inviting viewers to reconsider what it means to truly see and engage with the past.
