*Jon Waine Afro Nu-Wave Band (1975–1983)* revisits the funky, punkish New Jersey band Pope.L fronted before his art career took off. Photographs, flyers, lyric sheets in his hand, a guitar, a hand-painted tom-tom and amps stenciled JON WAINE trace songs like “Some Fresh White Boy,” early explorations of race in America that his art-world peers largely never knew about.
