Jem Perucchini's Sospiro, his first US exhibition, presents new paintings by the Italian, Ethiopian-born artist. Drawing on early Italian Renaissance painting, African wax print textiles, Greek mythology and Ethiopian church frescoes, he fills familiar narrative scenes with youthful, inscrutable figures in jewel-like monochrome hues, often lit by a glowing moon or sun.
