Jeanne Jaffe’s "Betwixt and Between" pairs sculptures, animations and prints whose strange, bodily figures refuse to settle: a hollow might be an eye or a mouth, a tube a limb, handle or pipe. Drawing on psychoanalyst Christopher Bollas’s idea of the “unthought known,” the South Florida–based artist, trained in ceramics, explores experiences we register before we can put them into words.
