Jen Clay’s *I’ve seen a bird before* is an immersive quilted textile installation developed at The Studios at MASS MoCA. Soft birds with puppet-like mouths and embroidered voices gather in a grove of pink and purple trees modeled on invasive kudzu. Drawing on du Maurier’s The Birds, Clay holds the scene just before something happens, linking ecological unease to anxiety and to noticing signs of distress.
